Scheduling your online content: why it's important for your business
It Is important to schedule your online content: But the reasons may not be what you first think
Nobody really wants to spend ALL of their time posting online about their business.
As a health and wellness professional/ coach / PT there is no doubt you would rather be working with your clients than spending hours online.
Even though you understand how important it is for you to show up online consistently and confidently. You only have so many hours in a day/week/month.
And these hours need to be utilised well so that you can grow your business in a way that suits you!
The good news is with a great online content strategy and plan you can save so much time. Health coaches who have worked with me in the past have halved the amount of time they spend online. Still showing up as much as is right for them.
One of the things we do that allows them to save all this time is to utilise scheduling as part of their planning.
So what is scheduling and how does it relate to your online content?
Let’s start with a definition. I love this one from mindtools.com
“Scheduling is the art of planning your activities so that you can achieve your goals and priorities in the time you have available.”
When it's done effectively, it helps you:
->Understand what you can realistically achieve with your time.
->Making sure you have enough time for essential tasks.
As an online content coach, I understand showing up online is not the only task you have to complete when running your business.
Is your online presence important?
( Spolier Alert: I am an online content coach - I think you know what the answer here will be )
Yes!
Showing up online confidently and consistently achieves many things,
it keeps you visible,
reminds people what you can do for them.
it helps people get to know like and trust you and
lets them know how they can work with you.
But it’s not the only thing you do, you need time to work with all of those clients, which is why saving time to work on those other business tasks is so important.
Short on time?
When time is short, it helps to know what you are going to focus on each time you sit down to work on your content.
When you have created your online content strategy you will know exactly what you want to achieve from your online presence. When you have a plan you will know what you need to do each day to make your goals a reality.
So when you sit down to work on your content you will alreay know what your goals for your online content today.
Are you:
planning content
creating content,
are you editing
are you publishing
When you have already scheduled these activities you no longer have to decide what you are doing and that in itself saves you time. Time for you to spend on other things either for your business or life!
Chaos to clarity
Creating clarity from chaos also makes you feel on top of things.
That feeling of being in control of at least one thing in your life gives you the ability to focus on other more pressing issues that turn up.
When you have your online content under control it becomes a fun and enjoyable activity. Something that you can look forward to. Instead of dragging you down it can energise you.
And that’s priceless.
What about scheduling tools?
Using an online scheduling tool can also make it easy for yourself. I talked about 9 scheduling tools that you can use for your social media in a previous blog post.
To really get the most out of using tools like this, it helps to know what you're trying to achieve. If you aren’t aware of what your intention is for each post and how it fits into your overall content strategy then using these tools isn’t as powerful as it could be.
When you know what the intention of each social media post, email or blog you put out there is meant to achieve then you can really start seeing the benefits of scheduling.
Not only saving you time but also creating more clarity around your message, more consistency and more confidence to show up.
If you are not sure what your goals are for your online content and are simply putting up a post because you haven’t done one for a while then using a scheduling tool is not going to be as effective as it could be.
Taking some time out first to create a strategy, a plan and then schedule that into your business time will pay you back in spades.
Before you start to schedule,
The first step is to work out what you want your online content to achieve. What is your intention?
Second, create a plan that allows you to focus on the details of delivering that intention
When you have these steps clear in your head ( on paper or on a digital platform) then you can use scheduling to
save you time while achieving your goals and priorities.
