FUN!
Planning your online content is stressful
it’s overwhelming
You don’t even know where to start - how can any of that be FUN?
I get it!
Even if you are a born planner ( like me ) the thought of planning something that you are not familiar with can be really daunting.
But I promise you PLANNING your online content really doesnt have to be like that at all.
It can be fun and easy if you let it be so.
Let’s see how that can work for you.
First, let’s take a look at some definitions. Sometimes we can get confused with the difference between an online content strategy and an online content plan. I explained the differences in detail in this blog if you would like to delve deeper.
The basics are as follows:
Your online content strategy is what you want to achieve with your content.
Your overall goal.
Most often your goals are clear and easy to see. You want to use your online content to attract the right people to your health and wellness business so that you can help them solve their problems.
Your online content plan is the details bringing your strategy to life.
The day to day, week to week, month to month activities that set and keep the wheels in motion so your goals can be realised. This can be boring, mundane and feel hard.
It can feel hard
We all have our own stories as to why planning our online content is hard. Whether you are a planner from way back on other things or consider yourself a free spirit.
If you are a planner you may tell yourself that you don’t have enough information to plan That you don't know what to say, or that you don’t know what people want to hear from you.
Non - planners you often tell yourself that planning stifles your creativity. You need to be inspired to create your magic and planning simply deosn’t work for you!
True story; a non-planner in a group I was in, started to do some planning. She was shocked and reported back to the gtroup- “ my mind is blown! it seems the more I plan the more freedom I have to create”
Planning your online content can free up your time and more time gives you choices.
Do you want to spend that seeing more clients and making more money?
Do you want to spend it with your family and friends?
Great choices don’t you think?
Getting started can be hard.
The first step of most things is often that way. But once you do start the momentum builds and you keep on rolling. It’s like your clients starting their new exercise program, the first few times are hard and then they can’t understand how they did without it.
The “trick” to planning your online content is to plan in a way that suits YOU!
There is no one way fits all. The worst thing you can do if you try it and it doesn’t work for you is to give up and decide you cant plan.
You are unique and therefore your planning needs to be as well.
Having said that you often benefit from having a guide to help get you started.
Here are three ways for you to consider when it comes to planning your online content.
Give yourself permission to be flexible.
Plans ALWAYS need to be fluid.
Your overall content strategy your big picture can stay the same.
the way you achieve it can change.
Think of it as a road map. To arrive at your destination, you can take numerous routes and arrive at the same place.
Some days you may take the direct route, some days you’ll take the scenic route. There may be accidents or roadblocks or disruptions due to weather. You may even decide to take a different mode of transport.
But because you have a flexible plan you still arrive at your destination.
The way you get there isn’t as important as actually arriving.
When your online content plan will change over time.
Knowing this gives you the freedom to try new ways of presenting your online content.
Make it EASY to execute your plan
When you are choosing when to do those daily, weekly, monthly implementation tasks of your plan make it as easy on yourself as possible.
Falling love in love with what some may call the mundane of repetitive tasks of your plan can be easy, especially if you choose wisely
Choose the best time of the day for you to do those tasks. If you are a morning person do those harder tasks in the morning.
Which days of the week suit you best to be creative, to schedule, to show up? if Monday is busy with client work and Tuesday is quiet make some online content plans for Tuesday.
If things in life change then you know you can change your plan!
Have FUN with your online content plan
Plan to do the things you enjoy.
When you first start your online content plan this is so very important.
You will keep doing things you enjoy.
If you love to write, write. If you love to make videos choose a time to film them and enjoy every minute of it.
Having fun will make implementing your online content plan feel easy.
And when things are easy you will want to keep going. With the momentum behind you, you will wonder why you ever thought planning your online content was hard!
Planning your online content is a process.
It’s not set in stone it needs to be able to move with you and the needs of your business.
It’s meant to free you up so you can be the best you can be in your zone of genius.
