Reduce, reuse, recycle your online content

Reduce, reuse, recycle.

No doubt you have heard this phrase before.

In the online content world, we call this repurposing.

Imagine this

You have spent some of your precious time creating an amazing piece of content. It speaks directly to the person you want to work with. It helps them with a huge problem they have and explains to them how YOU can help them solve it.

You sit back, and smile as you post this piece of content online and you feel so good!

It did take you a while to pull it together, but you know deep down that it’s one of the best things you have put out there. It’s what you have heard people asking for and you know it will help more people now that it’s online.

Soon though the feeling of satisfaction fades, as you know you have to get back to the drawing board and DO IT ALL AGAIN.

But before you sigh and stress about having to spend so much time creating and then sharing online let me tell you about something that can be a game-changer when creating your amazing online content.

It’s a lot like how you have learnt to help the environment by lessening your consumption of resources. You know how to reduce, reuse and recycle your household goods.

Now it’s time to learn how you can use the same process online

It’s called REPURPOSING

So read along and find out how to save your time, reduce your stress and release the struggle as you create and keep a healthy presence online.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle your ONLINE CONTENT.

1/ Reduce

The repurposing process starts with reduction.

Just like reducing your use of household resources, one of the things repurposing your content can do for you is to reduce the amount of time you have to spend online.

But it goes further than that with your time.

You can reduce the amount of time spent thinking of new things to talk about. In turn, reducing the feeling of overwhelm you struggle with knowing what to say

You can reduce the amount of time you spend creating new pieces of content.

You end up reducing the total amount of content you create and instead you focus more on the quality of your content rather than the quantity.

By reducing the amount of content you have to create and keep in your content library it becomes easier and quicker to post your content online. And it makes it easier to reuse it which is the second part of your reduce, reuse, recycle, steps of repurposing your online content.

#2/ Reuse

By reusing your content you act like the news and repeat ( or resue ) your content over and over.

Or if we go back to our environmental analogy instead of a single-use plastic bag you can reuse your content over and over

What this does is deliver your clear message of what you do, who you help and how you help them to your audience over and over and over again.

Now you may think, I don’t want to do that!!

I don’t want to annoy anyone!

However, if you look at the marketing stats, most people need 7 to 21 touch-points before they will consider buying from you.

So when you look at it like this, you are helping people with their decisions to create a better life for themselves by reusing your content to remind them how you help improve their lives,

When you reuse your online content strategically, within a plan, that has intention you can repeat your message even using the same posts every 3-6 months. If you would like to know more about creating a plan for repurposing your online content then you can jump on a call with me here.

Reusing again reduces the time you need to spend online, takes away the overwhelm of not knowing what to say and you

reduce the confusion of your prospective clients by being clear and consistent with your messaging.

But you don’t have to do it exactly the same way every time

The last step in repurposing your content is to recycle it.

#3/ RECYCLE

When you recycle your household goods they change form.

They change from being useful for one purpose to another

With your online content, the purpose may be the same, that is to share what you know with your audience but you change the delivery.

You take your message and broadcast it in different formats.

You may start with writing social media posts or posting short videos. Once you are confident creating these and reusing them the next step is to turn them into another form of online content.

When you recycle your content you present it in a way that resonates with a wider range of people. You still “speak” to your people but some people respond more to written words, others to seeing you on video.

There are so many ways you can do this, I share 14 ways to recycle one piece of content in a previous blog post. You can read it here .

Reducing, reusing, recycling doesn’t only apply to your household goods, it definitely applies to your online content as well.

After you have been coaching for a while, you know what resonates with your ideal clients, repeating those messages is what they want to hear.

Take a look at your online content. Have you been creating content for the last three or so years?

If so, try repurposing.

Can you reduce the amount of time creating new content and find ways to reuse those messages?

  • REDUCE your time because you no longer need to create as much new content

  • Have a plan to REUSE your content.

  • Decide how you want to RECYCLE that content into varied formats

Now REPURPOSING your amazing online content

Repurposing your online content is an absolute game-changer.

It gives you back your time, gives you the confidence to share your message and to show up consistently online.

If you would like to jump-start the repurposing of your online content then I would love to help.
