Why bother with a cornerstone piece of content? Here's why
Some days the idea of creating more content just gets you down. Imagine if you had a piece of content you could keep going back to?
Why create a cornerstone piece of content?
Creating your own online content is a journey.
When you first start out showing up online figuring out what to say, who to say it to, and when to say it can feel overwhelming.
My own journey was filled with uncertainty in my own messaging, finding the confidence and courage to show up consistently in my previous online businesses was hard.
But you have to start somewhere.
I started out like many others I have seen online.
I started by using quotes that spoke to me. I shared the national days that related to me and my business like World Cancer Day. I showed up each week and shared someone else’s content. It was a quick way to start my online journey.
As I became clearer with what it was I wanted to do, which is: to help health and wellness business owners to be visible online without hiding their true selves.
Creating and keeping a healthy presence online became less overwhelming, more focused, and simpler to achieve.
Over time my core message was developed into my cornerstone content.
Your cornerstone content holds your core message. That ONE thing that you do so well and helps your ideal customer solve their main problem.
Cornerstone content or core content is the basis of your online presence. In a previous blog post, I discussed what your cornerstone content could be and how to create it.
In this blog post, I want to show you how you can take that content and use it to create and keep a healthy presence online without feeling overwhelmed.
1/ Your cornerstone content allows you to reduce the amount of content you create
Once you have decided on what your cornerstone content is going to be, then you can take that content and use it as the basis of your online presence. You can use it as the foundation from which all of your online content can flow.
It doesn’t mean that you will never create new content. New content is important to create and share on a regular basis. And you can do that by using the ONEs, which I have talked about here.
Once you have your cornerstone content established, like the foundation of your house, it will hold up your online strategy and allow you to build in a way that suits you.
You can use your cornerstone content in strategic places to enhance the message you are sharing with your clients.
Once established and placed in your strategy, you then have time to work at a pace that suits you on other types of content that interest you and help your clients.
2/ Your cornerstone content allows you to serve more people
Think of your cornerstone content from a repurposing point of view.
First, it reduces the amount of content you need to create. Freeing up time for you to spend on serving more clients for example.
Second, it can be reused and third, it can be recycled. Creating daily/ weekly/ monthly content from your one piece of valuable content.
The more you can do this, the more easily you can share your knowledge. You can reach a wider audience and help more people with their health and wellness problems. It will help you show you’re committed to making a difference.
3/ Using your cornerstone content
Within your cornerstone content, you will find the themes and topics of your message.
As mentioned above my mission is: “to help health and wellness business owners to be visible online without hiding their true selves.”
Working with me, health coaches get clarity, confidence and the courage to show up consistently online.
These three themes are the basis of my message and will be found in my cornerstone content. Every single piece of my content will come back to how I can help my clients show up online as their true selves. Utilising these core themes in my cornerstone content and out into my online content plan makes it easy for me to become visible online.
Once you have uncovered your themes and the topics around them, then it becomes a simple process to create content and share it with the people you want to connect with support in a sustainable way.
You will show your clients who you really are and how you can help them.
Your cornerstone content helps you create and keep a healthy presence online without the overwhelm. This is why you create your cornerstone content
1/ It allows you to reduce the amount of content you create. In turn reducing the overwhelm of deciding what to say each time you show up
2/ It allows you to serve more people. By creating more time for you to see more clients individually and getting your message out there more consistently so that you can have a greater impact.
3/ It allows you to find your voice by getting clearer on your message and allows you to show up as your trueself.
Creating your own cornerstone content is a journey. Like all journeys some days it will be a walk in the park, other days it will be an uphill slog. But the journey will be worth it. And as the saying goes sometimes the destination is the journey.
