The Power of Planning: 5 simple ways your online content can work for you

Having an online presence for your business these days is almost as “normal” as having a phone number.

The online world is ever-present in our lives. How often would you look up a phone number in the phone book.? All of us today would “Google” that number, and while we were looking would probably seek out the website URL and maybe take a quick peek at a businesses social pages.

So you get it having an online presence is important for you and your business, but do you really need an online content strategy for your health and coaching business? If it’s only you why would you need to do that?

Why DO I need to plan and organise my online content?

Now nobody is saying you have to have a consistent presence online.

You can put up the occasional Instagram post or story. Or Facebook post, Tik Tok, Tweet etc. You don’t have to have a website, blog or email list to get clients. You may have leads coming in from local word of mouth or the gym you go to.

However as we have seen in the last 18 months the world can change suddenly, and having an online presence has been a godsend for many businesses. Not just in the health and wellness industry. Many other small businesses have seen the benefit of showing up and being visible online.

Of course, I believe having a strategy for your online content, where you have an organised plan to follow each day, week, month even year is one of the best things you can do for your business.

Your online content strategy is a tool you can use to do a number of things for your business

Today I am going to share with you a few of the things that I think a well organised online content plan can achieve.

Your online content  can do these things  for your business:

  • Create trust

  • Let people get to know you

  • Overcome objections

  • Change beliefs and mindsets

Let’s explore 5 ways a good content plan can achieve these things.

#1 A good content plan shows off your knowledge.

Have a plan where you choose what you are going to talk about.

It makes sense to talk about the things that you really know about, the things that get you excited, the things that you're passionate about.  Your ideal audience will feel the passion you bring to your business.

This will always show through in the online content that you create to share.

When you do this you are not only sharing your knowledge on the subject, you are showing your ideal audience how you can apply your knowledge to their situation and their problems.

They will see your confidence on the subject you are talking about it will help them decide if you have the right knowledge to help them solve their problems. It develops trust.

#2 A good content plan shows off your personality.

Everyone has a different way of teaching the same thing. I am sure you are well aware that you are not the only health and wellness coach in the world! Hey, there may be 20 coaches in your local area. But NONE of them delivers their knowledge the same way as you.

When you create, plan and organise your online content you will do it in a way that is unique to you. This will attract the people who relate to you.

By letting people get to know you they can decide if they like you enough to work with.  You are not going to appeal to everyone AND you don't want to.

It's too hard to please all of the people all of the time - so don't - As a people pleaser ( like me and most health and wellness coaches I know )  this is so very hard.

Once people relate to you it’s much easier for you to overcome their objections and they will allow you to start changing their beliefs which in turn allows them to get the results they want.

#3 A good content plan helps you stay consistent.

With a plan you know when and where you need to show up. You show up in a way that is easy and simple for you to do from day one and the way you want to continue.

Showing up REGULARLY lets people know they can rely on you. They trust that you'll be there when you say.  You let them know that you aren't going anywhere. Here we develop more trust to address objections, mindset and beliefs.

#4 A good plan saves you time and reduces overwhelm.

Having a plan to follow means you don't have to think of something to say every day.  Because it's in your plan you can save an hour a day.
How do you do that?

If you are one of those many coaches who wake up thinking what am I going to say today
Then this is where your time goes:

  • 15min feeling overwhelmed about what am I going to say today
15 min thinking about a suitable topic
15 min to research and write about it
15min getting the words perfect, finding a perfect picture to go with it and then schedule it!

Add that up = 60min Every. Single. Day and that’s only ONE piece of content.

#5 A good plan sets you up for when life gets busy.

And life does get busy for lots of reasons. You want to take some time off, visit sick relatives, go to your kids school camp. Because you have a plan YOU CAN reduce your overwhelm hugely because you will have organised for your posts to go out ahead of time. Because you have a plan you CAN do all of these things and still get your online content seen consistently and grow your business.

There are many reasons why you don't have to plan and organise your online content. And your business will probably still do ok.

But I hope you can see from the points above that having a content plan can deliver more than just getting a post up on Facebook.

Having an online content plan that shows off your knowledge, who you are and is delivered consistently and with ease will help you and your business grow in the direction you choose.
