How to repurpose your online content: the third easy step is recycling
It makes sense, don’t you think, that if you have spent so much of your precious time creating amazing content for your audience that you give them the opportunity to see it and benefit from it as much as possible?
Repurposing your online content is the best way you can achieve this. Recycling your online content is the third easy step in the repurposing framework.
Repurposing saves you time, worry and overwhelm.
When it comes to repurposing your online content there are three easy steps you need to follow.
I have gone into these steps in previous blogs I will go over them again quickly here.
Step 1 is REDUCE
You need to reduce the amount of content you create.
It sounds a bit crazy for an online content coach to tell you to create less content. But this is such an important step
You do this by focusing on your cornerstone piece of content. Make it highly valuable and super relevant to your audience. Quality over quantity is a great way to think about it.
Step 2 is REUSE
Once you have created that piece SHARE it everywhere, over and over and over again.
Like a good water bottle for your workouts. You don’t use it once and discard it. You use it over and over to keep you hydrated
Use your cornerstone content to educate, entertain and attract your ideal audience over and over and over. < link reuse blog>
The 3rd step and the one I will go into detail about in today's blog is RECYCLE.
Step 3/ is RECYCLE
Recycling your online content is what you do after you have created it and reused it
It’s where you take that piece of cornerstone content and turn it into something different.
Often you will create your cornerstone piece of content in the format that you love the most.
For example, your cornerstone content maybe a Blog that you have written. and published on your website.
Let’s take a look at how you can use these different formats to recycle your Blog so you can share it in different ways online. AKA recycling.
Three key formats when creating your online content.
You use these formats when you want to recycle your content.
WRITTEN
VIDEO
AUDIO
1/ Write it down
A blog is a written piece of content already
You can share parts of it again taking excerpts and posting them on your social media channel.
If you have an email list as part of your online presence then you can share the link to your blog in your email.
2/ Record it on Video.
Now I totally get it, you may not love video, but trust me on this, video is proven to be one of THE best ways to get people engaged with your content.
It’s not going away so I suggest you simply give it a try.
My quick tips for feeling comfortable on video.
Smile - for an instant confidence boost
Wear something you love - it can put you at ease
Pretend you’re speaking WITH your favourite client - notice with not to, speaking with someone not to someone has a subtle difference!
3/ Audio is something people often overlook
If showing up on video is really too much of a stretch right now then consider AUDIO.
You can always record yourself reading your blog and add it to your blog post.
Send it to your email list as a download to listen to when they are working out
Once you have RECYCLED your cornerstone piece you can go back to step 2 and reuse those recycled pieces over and over again.
These are just a few ideas on how you can quickly RECYCLE your cornerstone content into a different format that you can use to attract a wider range of people.

There is another step in this REPURPOSING framework that many people forget about.
And that is to REVIEW.
REVIEWING is a game-changer
This is a game-changer when it comes to effectively repurposing your online content.
By reviewing what works and what doesn’t work you can decide which content is worth your time repurposing. And we all know how important your time is, don’t we?
Once you have reduced, reused, recycled and reviewed your online content your repurposing is complete.
However to really take full advantage. of the repurposing framework, it helps to have a place to store it so that it’s easily accessible. Repurposing means using your content over and over again. You need to be able to find your best content when ever you want to use it.
Creating an online content library that you can “borrow” from at any time will save you so much time. Not only creating time but time spent worrying about where was that???
You can’t always remember when and where that really engaging piece of content ended up so a well set up online content library will help you put your finger on it in next to no time.
In my next blog, I will be showing you how to review and store your online content by creating your very own online content library
