How to celebrate your wins: Even the ones you don’t know about

Do you stop to celebrate your wins?

In sport, you see it all the time.

When a team wins a game it’s celebrated. When an athlete crosses the finish line first they throw their hands in the air. Even people who don’t win but do a personal best or finish that 10 km race celebrate.

It can be the smaller wins too. As part of every Crossfit class, we always finished with high fives all around. A way of celebrating the fact that not only had we finished the class but that we showed up and did our best. And we shared it with our fellow class members.

In your business, you can celebrate your wins as well.

Your clients wins are a great place to start but don’t neglect your own wins.

As a business owner, you can always find the things that went wrong, the things that you haven’t done yet

But the things that went well or what you are working on right now that excites you, are things that are often neglected.

And often more important than you realise.

Stopping to acknowledge and celebrate your wins gives you the rewards you need as a human to make something you are doing feel worthwhile.

Wins? What wins?

At the beginning of my business journey, I truly believed I had no wins at all!

I had no clients even though I was doing all the right things. Then when I got clients it was only one or two.

I told myself that the was nowhere near enough to be called a win!

I was just starting out and my goals were high. I wanted to win the whole game before I celebrated.

This changed when I started working with a business coach.

She made me look for the wins.  Start small, they are there she promised.

And she was right.

  • Where I posted up on social media when I said I would. Celebrate that

  • When someone commented on that post or watched my video. Celebrate that.

  • When someone booked a call with me. Celebrate that

  • When my first lead magnet was created and published. Celebrate that.

  • When I signed up my very first client. Celebrate that

  • When I sent my first email to my list. Celebrate that

  • When I got my first invoice got paid. Celebrate that

Celebrate All of them.

Suddenly wins appeared everywhere and they inspired more action!

Making wins the norm

Looking for the wins became the “norm”.

Recently I was reminded on a client call that looking for the wins is not the “norm” for many people. Especially when we are in the midst of our business work and trying new things.

She had been working on improving her online content. She had her social media framework looking great so we had moved on to developing her presence with email marketing. I was congratulating this caring health and wellness coach, on her amazing progress with her email software.

  • choosing it

  • working out how to use it

  • finding help to use it well

And then she burst into tears.

Why was I celebrating something she was struggling so hard with? She felt like she wasn’t winning and

and yet she was.

It was a new part of her online content framework, something she had not done before and it was going to help her connect more with her health and wellness clients.
She hadn't stopped to recognise that that simple step of deciding on an email software and working out how to use it was a huge win!

When I reminded her of all the things that she had done that week, just with the email software, (not to mention delivering her posts consistently on social media that week using her new framework) she realised.

Realised that she had done so much that was leading her in the right direction. So many small wins that she hadn’t seen.

It was time to stop and celebrate that.

Stop, Look, Celebrate

Making wins the “norm” creates a better place from which to grow.

You can keep adding to your TO DO list forever.

There will always be something else that you can try, need to attend to or wants your attention.

You can be busy all the time. Which can be quite draining.

By stopping to take the time to look for the things that you have done well and celebrating them it gives you back your energy to keep going. Especially in times when things get really tough.

So looking for the wins becomes important each and every week.

It has become an important part of my business week.

And I love doing it with my clients as well.

The best way you can start is by scheduling a time to go find your wins.

This is what I made myself do each week. You could do it monthly too, but weekly helps remind you more often especially in the beginning.

Every week in my Google calendar I scheduled ‘My Wins “

Asking myself this simple question:

What were my wins last week?

I had to come up with at least three and write them in the note on my calendar.

This was important, being able to read each win from last week made it easier to look for the wins this week.

Setting aside the time to look made me stop and then acknowledge the wins.

Helped celebrate them, it would often be as simple as a happy dance on the spot!

It made me feel good.

If I didn’t look for the wins each week I would never realise just how far and how many wins had been achieved.

Celebrate good times

Celebrating your wins makes you feel great.

Even the small wins, especially at the beginning of your business journey help so much.

Think about your own clients. Look at their face, see their eyes light up next time you celebrate their win with them. It could be as small as turning up for their first session or when they hit a PB they’ve been after for a while.

Scheduling time into your calendar to look for, acknowledge and celebrate your wins is a great step.

Even better than celebrating your wins, is to celebrate them with someone who really cares about your success.

That’s why your wins have become a huge part of what I do working 1:1 with you on your online content.

If you would like to celebrate your wins big and small with someone who gets health and wellness coaches and professionals and what they do for their clients then you can
